A Vintage-Style Opal Ring With a Large Kite-Cut White Stone

The centre stone is cut as a broad kite, faceted across the top and milky white until the light moves, when orange and gold flash up from inside it. Four heavy claws hold it, shaped like small vines rather than plain prongs. On each shoulder a diamond-shaped plate carries three round stones in a soft sea green, and the band behind them is engraved with a chevron pattern.

The whole ring is darkened in the recesses so the engraving and the claws read as older than they are. It is a statement piece rather than a stacking ring, worn alone on the hand. Eight sizes are available, from 5 to 12, which covers most fingers without resizing.
